[Per l’italiano vedi sotto] On 20 November parents gathered to buy and sell ski equipment and winter gear for the upcoming ski season. The second-hand ski market was held in the well-ventilated open area of the Da Vinci building, under the canteen at the secondary school.

Parents had the opportunity to book stands and put their children’s used but loved ski gear back into circulation, by selling them to school families with up and coming or seasoned skiers.

“The market really works to promote sustainability,” said Cecília Bárdossy, a mother in the English language section and AGSEV representative for SWALS. “We actually sold most of our stuff still in good condition – two sets of skis, ski boots, winter jackets and waterproof pants, and even a pair of winter boots. I hope other families will happily use them”

But for her and for many of the parents we saw, the best thing was simply having an occasion to meet up with other parents, given the restrictions of the past two years. “It was great to see parents and families on school grounds again,” said Cecília.

The second hand ski market is an annual event that was cancelled last year due to the Covid emergency. In previous years the event was held at the canteen of the JRC, and this was the first time that it was at the school.

“It wasn’t the biggest one we’ve had, probably because of the changed location and the cold weather,” said João Barroso, father in the English language section and AGSEV Vice-President. “But it was really nice just to do the ski market again after the year off, and we’re going to do everything we can to make sure the settimana bianca ski trip to Aprica is going to work this year.”

The ski market, like the used book sales at the bi-annual Christmas market and the early summer school book market, is part of the European School Varese parent community’s long standing commitment to promoting a circular economy.

Sorrisi e vendite al mercato degli sci di seconda mano

Il 20 novembre i genitori si sono riuniti per comprare e vendere l’attrezzatura da sci e l’equipaggiamento invernale per la prossima stagione sciistica. Il mercatino usato sci si è tenuto nell’area aperta e ben ventilata dell’edificio Da Vinci, sotto la mensa della scuola secondaria.

I genitori hanno avuto l’opportunità di prenotare gli stand e rimettere in circolazione l’attrezzatura da sci usata ma amata dai loro figli, vendendola alle famiglie della scuola con sciatori in erba o esperti.

“Il mercatino funziona davvero per promuovere la sostenibilità”, ha detto Cecília Bárdossy, una madre della sezione di lingua inglese e rappresentante AGSEV per SWALS. “La nostra famiglia aveva uno stand e abbiamo effettivamente venduto la maggior parte delle nostre cose ancora in buone condizioni – due set di sci, scarponi da sci, giacche invernali e pantaloni impermeabili, e anche un paio di stivali invernali. Spero che altre famiglie li useranno con piacere”.

Ma per lei e per molti dei genitori che abbiamo visto, la cosa migliore è stata semplicemente avere un’occasione per incontrarsi con altri genitori, viste le restrizioni degli ultimi due anni. “È stato bello vedere di nuovo genitori e famiglie sul terreno della scuola”, ha detto Cecília.

Il mercatino dell’usato è un evento annuale che è stato cancellato l’anno scorso a causa dell’emergenza Covid. Negli anni precedenti l’evento si è tenuto presso la mensa del CCR, e questa è stata la prima volta che è stato nella scuola.

“Non è stato il più grande che abbiamo avuto, probabilmente a causa del luogo cambiato e del freddo”, ha detto João Barroso, padre nella sezione di lingua inglese e vicepresidente dell’AGSEV. “Ma è stato davvero bello fare di nuovo il mercato dello sci dopo l’anno di pausa, e faremo tutto il possibile per fare in modo che la settimana bianca all’Aprica funzioni anche quest’anno”.
