As the school year draws to a close, many families begin preparing for the next academic year. To help parents navigate the secondary textbook process at ESV, AGSEV has put together this overview of the different options available for obtaining, exchanging, selling, and donating textbooks.
School Book Lists
The school publishes the official book lists in mid-June and will notify parents by email as soon as they become available.
Parents should consult the list for their child’s next year group to determine which books will be required for the coming school year.
Handing Down Textbooks
Many textbooks can be reused from one student to another. To encourage the circulation of second-hand books within our community, AGSEV provides a S1-S7 textbook sheet, so parents and students can easily check if their used books are needed again the following year (use the search function, it works across all tabs).
Textbook Swap & Sale Events
Several opportunities will be available for families to exchange, buy, and sell textbooks:
🌿7th September – ESV Swap & Sale event for students and parents – 16:30-18:00🌿
🌿8th September – Ispra Clubhouse Swap & Sale event for parents – 17:30-19:00🌿
Further details will be communicated by both the school and AGSEV closer to the dates.
Use the O-Marche App
Throughout the summer, parents can use the O-Marche second-hand exchange app to buy, sell, or give away textbooks and other school-related items – then parents or students can meet up with buyers or sellers at one of the swap events to exchange items.
Teacher-Led Initiatives
For some subjects, teachers may organise textbook exchange or resale initiatives within their courses. Families are encouraged to follow communications from teachers regarding these opportunities.
Textbook Donations
Donations can be dropped off at the office of the Deputy Secretary, Miss Van Asma, during the last week of school.
Buying New Books
Some textbooks will need to be purchased new. If families encounter difficulties obtaining required books—for example due to long delivery times or unusually high prices—they are encouraged to contact the relevant subject teacher so that alternative solutions can be explored.
The following bookstores may be useful when sourcing textbooks:

How Class Representatives Can Help
🌿 Share the S1-S7 textbook sheet with their classes
🌿 Share the O-Marche info with their classes
🌿 Remind families about the textbook swap, sale, and donation opportunities

Together, we can make the textbook process easier, more affordable, and more sustainable for all ESV families.
