[Per l’italiano vedi sotto] This year, due to COVID-19 restrictions, and school regulations, we won’t be offering and organizing after-school activities for kids. In the past, it was necessary to become a member to participate in these activities. And we know that without them, we’re potentially going to have a lot fewer members – fewer parents in the parents association.

But we want you to join anyway. Become a member – it costs only 25 euros per family. And if you can, donate your time as well.

Because the Parents Association is you.

Everybody in the parents association is a volunteer. Helpers are volunteers. The elected board are volunteers. The president and vice president and secretary are volunteers.

Your money doesn’t go to them. Your 25 euros goes to fund school projects and student activities.

Last year we gave money for the BAC party, for the graduating seniors. We’ve helped contribute to buying calculators and now mobile devices for students. We’ve organized the end of year school book sale. We make the calendar and publish a magazine for new parents. We pay dues to interparents, an association of all European School parents associations that advocates for policy changes – including distance learning and COVID-safety guidelines.

And in this crazy, COVID year, we’ve got a lot more planned as well.

But we need your help.

First, to become paying members. Sign up is easy. A group of volunteers is working on enabling internet payments via Paypal on the website, but for now you can use the traditional method of completing and sending in your form with a bonifico, or paying directly at the Parents Association office at the JRC.

Second, to help volunteer your time. Parents Association members are currently fighting to help manage (and contest) changes for SWALS students, holding the school to greener sustainability standards, helping manage the school library, improve pedestrian safety and safer pick up and drop off times, improve communication and transparency, share stories from around the school, reorganize the website, and organize future after school activities for kids.

And at every important school meeting with the administration and staff about education, school safety, etc. parents always have a seat at the table – because parents association representatives are there.

All of these activities involve meetings, emailing, conversations, chats, decisions, and lots and lots of time. And there just aren’t enough of us to do it all.

So please, join us. Pay your dues, then tell us where your strengths fit in, or the conversations and issues you want to be a part of. We’ll be happy to have you.

You are the Parents Association. And with you, and me, and all of us together, we can make this school a better place for our kids, and their future.

Perché iscriversi ad AGSEV?

Quest’anno, a causa delle restrizioni anti COVID-19 e del regolamento scolastico, non potremo organizzare né offrire attività parascolastiche per gli studenti. In passato era necessario diventare membri dell’associazione genitori per partecipare a queste attività. E sappiamo che, senza di queste, potenzialmente avremo molti meno membri – meno genitori nell’associazione.

Ma vorremmo che tu ti iscrivessi comunque. Diventare socio costa solo 25 euro a famiglia. E se puoi, offri anche il tuo tempo.

Perché l’associazione genitori sei tu.

Tutti nell’associazione genitori sono volontari. Gli aiutanti sono volontari. I membri del consiglio eletto sono volontari. Il presidente, il vice presidente e il segretario sono volontari.

I tuoi soldi non vanno a loro. I tuoi 25 euro vanno a finanziare progetti scolastici ed attività studentesche.

L’anno scorso abbiamo partecipato al finanziamento della festa del BAC per i laureandi. Abbiamo contribuito all’acquisto di calcolatrici e, ultimamente, di dispositivi mobili per gli studenti. Negli anni precedenti abbiamo organizzato il mercatino di libri scolastici di fine anno. Prepariamo il calendario e pubblichiamo la rivista per i nuovi genitori. Paghiamo le quote all’Interparents, un’associazione che riunisce tutte le associazioni genitori delle scuole europee e che sostiene i cambiamenti di politica scolastica – tra cui la didattica a distanza e le linee guida di sicurezza COVID.

Anche in quest’anno molto particolare, abbiamo molto altro in programma.

Ma abbiamo bisogno del tuo aiuto.

Prima di tutto, diventando socio. Iscriversi è facile. Un gruppo di volontari sta lavorando per abilitare i pagamenti via internet tramite Paypal sul sito web, ma per ora puoi usare il metodo tradizionale – compilando e inviando il modulo con un bonifico – o pagare direttamente presso l’ufficio dell’associazione genitori del CCR.

In secondo luogo, dedicando un pò del tuo tempo ad aiutare. I membri dell’associazione genitori stanno attualmente lavorando per aiutare a gestire (e contestare) i cambiamenti per gli studenti SWALS, per spingere la scuola a rispettare standard di sostenibilità più verdi, per gestire la biblioteca scolastica, per migliorare la sicurezza dei pedoni e per rendere più sicuro il flusso di circolazione davanti alla scuola, per migliorare la comunicazione e la trasparenza, per condividere storie da tutta la scuola, per riorganizzare il sito web e per organizzare future attività parascolastiche per i bambini.

Ad ogni importante riunione scolastica con l’amministrazione e lo staff, su istruzione, sicurezza scolastica, ecc., i genitori hanno sempre un posto al tavolo – perché i rappresentanti dell’associazione genitori sono lì presenti.

Tutte queste attività prevedono incontri, e-mail, conversazioni, chat, decisioni e molto, molto tempo. E noi non siamo abbastanza per fare tutto questo.

Quindi, per favore, iscriviti. Versa la tua quota, poi ci dici quali sono i tuoi punti di forza o i progetti di cui vuoi far parte. Saremo felici di averti con noi.

L’Associazione dei genitori sei tu. E con te, con me e tutti noi insieme, possiamo rendere questa scuola un posto migliore per i nostri figli e per il loro futuro.
